还是在那个短篇里，发现还有一句：“没讲两句话的少年起身上洗手间时，他挪到女人对面的座位，女人原本齐整的阵容又兵荒马乱了。”何至于这个破成语这么情有独钟，同一篇里要用上两次。你说她是讲究文字呢还是不讲究呢？

 

玩微博有理由，不玩也有理由，我还没到“碎片化生存”那个程度，不过是个个人选择和自律问题，何必多说？我玩微博，不还是每月能看十来本书嘛。

 

最近有点想吃藕夹，就去找湖北菜馆。找到黄埔丰乐路的红菜苔，关门了。这是在车陂路的“楚味美食”。端上后我看着像是一片藕，就问服务员：“不是要夹东西的吗？”她说有啊，两片中间有一点。一看果然有一点，藕片切得很薄。我还是最喜欢吃我妈做的，藕切得厚，中间夹的馅多，但可惜只有过年时才会炸。

Mickey上的初中里有个很烧钱的做法，就是寒暑假时会组织出国“游学”十几天，花费不菲。今年寒假好像是要去新西兰和加拿大，收费近三万。我还想着要出点血呢，没想到Mickey一点都不感兴趣，他的想法是都被老师管了一个学期，旅游还要让带队老师管得死死的，岂不是太没劲了？看来长大他也会是个背包客。

小时候，家跟小学隔河相望，但只能绕挺远的路过桥去上学，至少得半个钟头，下雨天更是有可能狼狈不堪。到严冬时“上冻”后就好了，走过结冰的河面去学校，用不了五分钟。冻得还没那么实在的冰与河泥在脚下“咯吱、咯吱”地响，至今觉得，那是世界上最好听的声音。

 

中午读了个短篇，情节不说，语言上倒是看得出颇为用心，带点民国味，也就有点张、胡味。但是奇怪的用了好几个生僻字，不知是否特意为了“做旧”，但结果是界面颇不友好。这些字生僻到编者需要加注解的程度，只是光释义，无注音，界面还是不友好。作者喜用生僻字这一点，说实话，吾未见其明也。

陆谷孙先生主编的《英汉大词典》我用烂了一本，两年前换了新版，也一直认为是“一日不可无此君”。但是去年年底去非洲出了几个月差，没法带大部头词典，翻译时一靠“金山词霸”，二靠网络资源，倒也过来了，并没有太大不适感。还是觉得，翻译中，译者的态度及工作方式更重要（认真，勤查，多利用资源等）。

看竺家荣老师译青山七惠的《新娘》时碰到这一句：“说实在的，我并非不可以努努力，采取曲线救国的策略，来说服父母同意这门亲事，但我就是不那么做。”因为产生于抗日战争时期的“曲线救国”一词，让我不禁莞尔。我不是说竺老师译得不好，强烈推荐她的译作，尤其是她译的青山七惠。

柿子是我最喜欢的水果之一，以前因为我不会讨价还价，又怕被欺秤，就和市场保持距离，结果在吃柿子的问题上受制于人，看人脸色。后来我想开了，自己去买，就算吃亏又能吃多少亏呢？结果现在供应充足，我每天以三个为度。不过照这样下去，也许会吃够吧？也好，到时就算是又给生活做了道减法。

 

Mickey目前英语一般，他把部分原因归咎于我以前对他的“家教”。的确，教自己孩子容易发脾气，既影响感情，效果也不好，所以古人讲究“易子而教”。另外至今他还有误解，因为前几天还说：“你那么抓我的英语，是不是想让我子承父业？”天地良心！文学翻译这么苦逼的事，我指望他也来做，我有病不成？

 

Mickey前两年的理想是想当个商人，最近一年左右是想当作家，我不知道哪样更让我操心。据他讲想当作家，是想在文字方面留下点什么“印记”，这让我也感动了。刚才我试探着问：“如果你以后真当上了作家，你觉得我对你在这方面有影响吗？”他说：“当然有了，至少你爱看书，也影响我爱上了阅读。”我大感欣慰。

 

看自己的旧译稿，发现把grey herring-bone suit 译成“灰色人字纹西装”，现在觉得那个“人字纹”不合适，所指虽不错，但“人字”毕竟说的是汉字啊，所以我想还是改成“鱼骨纹”为好。另外“西装”因为有个“西”字，以前总是把suit译为“套装”，后来看多数人都译为“西装”，才从众了。

 

有时候夏天晚上有光亮时，我站在他们的小床边看他们睡觉，看着他们的圆脸蛋和颜色比我的还要淡上几分的亚麻色头发，我心里有了种像《圣经》里所说的翻江倒海的感觉。这种时候，我觉得我像个一点用都没了的空种子囊，而我唯一的重要之处，是将这两个活人带入人世并把他们养大。—乔治·奥威尔，《上来透口气》
